If I had a billion dollars, I'd give a million to each of my friends and family. I'd have an indoor gym and pool built at my college. I'd pay for teachers aides at my daughter's school. I'd buy every book Nora Roberts ever wrote, and I'd fly to her next book signing so I could tell her thank you for saving my sanity by giving me an escape from reality for a few hours at a time.

Finished M's costume.  It's awesome.  Took me all nite, though- I had a 45 minute nap between 6:30 and 7:15 Friday morning... long day.  A had a Brownie outing Friday nite, at a local park.  We painted pumpkins, roasted hotdogs, went on a hayride (with no hay- it was a tram) played games, and made smores.  Mmmm.

Today the short people are going to the in-laws house.  Woo-hoo!  We're having friends over to play cards- maybe I can actually learn poker.  (Then I can play strip poker with hubby.)  We're supposed to be leaving in an hour to meet them for lunch and the kid swap (the inlaws).

I want to go to a local bar tonight, they're having a Halloween costume contest tonight.  My costume is spiffy.  I made it year before last.  Long black dress with a slit waaay up one side and lots of cleavage.  Irridescent purple/blue cape with stars and moons.  And, of course, since I made the dress, it fits really well.  (Last year it was a little snug, but this year it's loose, so I really have lost weight- woo hoo!)  I wore it to school yesterday and got lots of compliments.

Well, gotta leave in an hour, and the kids aren't even dressed yet (neither am I- I'm sitting here in a tshirt) so I better get moving.

    Aaaaaaa!

A decided what she wants to be for Halloween.  A princess.  A princess in a pink dress.  Sooo... I'm using the material I have left from the pink satin dresses.  Damn it... more pink satin.

M wants to be a 'race car guy'- but not a race car guy that drives, cause he'd 'run into mommy's car if he drove' but one of the guys who fixes the cars.  Basically, he wants to be part of the pit crew.  They don't sell those at Wal-mart.  So I hafta figure out how to make a pit crew costume, and make it... in a week.  Halloween snuck up on me this year.  I've been sewing A's cape tonight, I'm in the middle of the slip that will go under the dress, and I have to finish the dress still, plus find a tiara... but the good news is that the only part I think I'll have to buy is the tiara.  No biggie, they sell them at Claires for $6 or so.

Well, that's all I know- and it's 3am, so I think I'll go to bed now.

Lishy and I are playing with HTML.  Bwa ha ha.

    Posted by: ButterflyLane at 15:16 | link | comments (7) |

    Bored.

That's me in a nutshell.  In approximately three hours I'll be babysitting.  I need a bubblebath and some chocolate.  Also need to go to Walmart and to bake cookies.

I have two papers to write- one 5 pages and one 15 pages.  Urgh.  Oops, phone ringing.  It's Lishy!  Woo-hoo!

    Litany of Minor Disasters

The washing machine drain line sprang a leak last night.  Flooded the kitchen, the coat closet, and the closet under the stairs (which was full of cardboard boxes- mostly holiday decorations, books and pictures), and soaked the carpet in part of the livingroom.  Everybody together now, "Well, fuck".

A has tomorrow and Friday off school for fall break.  I have classes all day Thursday.  My friend is going to watch her, but it's gonna cost me.

The price is roughly 6 hours of watching her 2yo on Saturday.  I like the kid, really I do.  He's hilariously funny and easy to deal with.  My house just isn't set up for a 2yo anymore, so he has to be watched pretty closely... which means nothing else will get done.

There are a whole bunch of boxes in my livingroom floor waiting for the closet to dry out.  I have to get them put away before aforementioned 2yo comes over.

I'm cranky.  And Aunt Flo came to visit during Calculus class.

Okay, enough whining.  For now, anyway.

I'll try to post later if my mood improves.  Right now I'm gonna go try to make sense of calculus.  Does anyone know anything about natural logs?

You are green. Perhaps one of the most balanced of all the colors. By balanced, I mean balanced in both bad and good parts. Let me elaborate: You're a natural, and somewhat superficial person. You're extremely generous, but, to add to the confusion, you're frugal and stingy. You're a forgiving, but jealous person. You're imaginative, but still logical. At sometimes, you're a complete neat-freak, and other times, you're a total slob. You're very stable, but undependable. But onto the other traits that are associated with this color... You're a stubborn person, simply put. Do you believe in Feng Shui? Green is closely related to the thought of having a balanced environment, you know. When in a bad situation, you're painfully pessimistic, and when you're in a good situation, you're extremely optimistic. A fairly outgoing and amused person, you enjoy talking to people, and hearing their thoughts on different things. As a plus, when people hang around you, it seems like time passes by all the more quickly.

As requested.  This is a post.

I'd leave it at that, but... I can't.  Anyone have any good ideas as far as where to get ahold of an inexpensive brownies uniform?  I've figured it out.  The Girl Scouts are a scam to steal the money from parents.  Bought A a vest, the insignia patches for it, the handbook, and a tshirt.  It cost me $47.  If I'd actually bought a uniform it would have been twice that- for a shirt and skort.  I checked ebay, but its all stupidly expensive.  I sqaw people bidding almost as much for a used outfit as they would pay for a new one at a Girl Scout store.

My mom still had my uniform, and the dress fits A perfectly, but... the uniform doesn't look like that anymore.  It's a much darker shade of brown now, and the styles are different.  She's supposed to march in a parade Saturday, and I can't decide whether to let her wear my old uniform for the sentimental value, or put her in her brownies t-shirt, vest and jeans.

On another subject entirely, went tp parent-teacher conferences last week, and A's teacher thinks she has ADD.  I think she's just bored because she is several grade levels past the work they're doing.  The kid has a reading comprehension level of 3.1, which means first month of third grade.  She's a first grader.  She can solve math problems in her head like 12+7 and 28-9.... in class they're still doing the worksheets that have pictures to represent stuff.  She could already spell every spelling and vocabulary word they've had so far.  She reads words with four syllables.  The reader she's using has stuff like "See the hat?  The hat is red.  See the red hat?"  Is it any wonder she doesn't pay attention?

I swear I haven't forced any of this- the kid is just a voracious learner.  M is just as bad... their optometrist said he's never used the letter chart on a three-year old before... he was amazed by both kids.

Well, hubby says I'm ignoring him, so I guess I'm done for now.

I don't know anything.  Trying to catch up on the laundry today.  The short people and I decorated the house for Halloween last nite and this morning.  Had parent-teacher conference with A's teacher Thursday.  It did not go well.
